Best Gyms Ranked by What Actually Matters
We visit and rate every gym so you can find the right one, not just the closest.
Rack Report Gym Map
Every gym scored on the 100-point Rack Report rubric. Click a pin or a card for the full breakdown.
-
Every gym is scored on a 100-point scorecard across five categories: equipment quality, community and culture, coaching and training philosophy, space and logistics, and value. Each category is worth 20 points, and scores come from actual visits, not aggregated star ratings.
-
There's no single answer. The best gym depends on what you're training for. A serious powerlifter and someone looking for a welcoming general-fitness environment will get very different answers from this map, which is why we score and tag gyms by category instead of ranking them on one universal scale.
-
Powerlifting and strongman gyms are built around specialized equipment (platforms, monolifts, safety squat bars) and a coaching culture focused on serious strength training. General fitness gyms and corporate chains prioritize broad appeal, group classes, and cardio equipment over specialized strength infrastructure.
-
No. Gyms don't pay to be listed, rated, or featured, and placement on the map isn't influenced by advertising relationships.
-
The map is updated as new gyms are visited and scored, and existing scores are revisited periodically to reflect ownership changes, renovations, or shifts in equipment and culture.
